Prof. Beata Buchelt, PhD, DSc

Associate Professor of Economics in Management, specializing in Human Resource Management (HRM). She is a prominent expert in healthcare human capital, serving as a member of the Accreditation Committee at the Ministry of Health and an official expert for the Ministry of Health in HRM. Her leadership roles include serving as the Director of the Center for Health Economics and Management at the Krakow University of Economics (KUE) and the Director of the MBA in Healthcare program at the Krakow School of Business KUE.

Professor Buchelt’s international academic footprint is extensive:

• Senior Fulbright Alumna, having completed a research project titled „High Performance Work Practices: Physicians’ Perspective.”
• Visiting Professor at Grand Valley State University (Grand Rapids, USA), Roosevelt University (Chicago, USA), and Pforzheim University (Germany).
• Visiting Professor at University of Michigan Health-West (2023–2024).
• Collaborator with the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies (EuroWHO).

She is deeply involved in the healthcare sector as a member of the Expert Council of the Supreme Medical Chamber (NIL), the Program Council of the Polish Hospital Federation, and the Scientific Council of the „Nie widać po mnie” Foundation. Additionally, she serves on the Executive Board of the Polish Society for Coordinated Healthcare.

For over 20 years, her research has focused on HRM in healthcare. She has authored dozens of publications, including the award-winning monograph „The Concept of a Performance Management System for Medical Personnel in Hospitals,” recognized by the Committee on Labor and Social Policy Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN). She is also the initiator of specialized postgraduate managerial studies for nursing staff, focusing on human capital perspective.Visiting Professor at Grand Valley State University (Grand Rapids, USA), Roosevelt University (Chicago, USA), and Pforzheim University (Germany).
